More Mayors arrested for corruption
A number of arrests have taken place in Santa Brígida where two former Mayors and a number of municipal technicians were amongst the six people taken into custody for alleged corruption. The operation has been named ‘Brisanta.’ The two ex Partido Popular Mayors are now both councillors for independent parties. Those detained are: Carmelo Vega, who was elected this May as a councillor for the party, Independientes por Santa Brígida, and Antonio Díaz, from Agrupación de Amigos Demócratas. The remaining four detainees are Luis Troya, who is a former planning councillor at the Town Hall, Antonio Ventura, a municipal foreman, and two administrative workers named as Jacinto Hernández and Santiago Hernando.
